About Me

Hi, I’m Tom Summerscales, founder of Become Athletic.

I created Become Athletic to solve a problem I’ve seen over and over again: healthcare professionals and busy high-performers struggling to balance demanding careers with their own health and fitness. Long shifts, unpredictable schedules, family life—it’s no wonder consistency feels impossible.

That’s exactly why I built the 8-Week HCP Pathway.

This program brings together the same principles I use with my 1:1 clients:

Frequently asked questions

  • Not at all! We focus on building the fundamentals rather than prescribing specific foods or meal plans. The fundamentals are the same whatever your dietary preference.

  • Yes! The whole course is designed to be flexible. All content and sessions are recorded to ensure you have everything you need to be successful. We even teach specific modules on night shifts and shift work nutrition and recovery.

  • All sessions and content are recorded so you can watch them back if you can’t make a session.

  • No. We provide home based and also gym based training options to cater for all equipment and time needs.

  • No. Whilst you need to be a calorie deficit to lose weight, we don’t do extremes. This is about setting sustainble standards to enable you to lose weight whilst still enjoying food and doing it alongside work and home life. For some clients we calorie count, for others, we just use food journaling. You will have a say in how we approach your weight loss.

  • The weekly group call is up to an hour, however this is recorded and not mandatory to attend live. You can ask questions you have in advance to be answered on the call, or in the forum itself.

    In terms of the workouts, it’s up to you. You could exercise once or 6 times per week depending on your availability. We will encourage you to find a sustainable number that works for you long term.
